Texas Roadhouse is one of our favorite restaurants and their rolls and bread are delish. I grabbed this recipe from the Cozy Cook and it was very close - especially the butter.
Ingredients for Rolls
1 1/4 cup scalded milk
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons melted butter
1 large egg (at room temperature)
1/4 cup honey
4 cups self rising flour
2 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast (or 1 packet)
After bread is cooked, spread a tablespoon of butter on top of the rolls
Ingredients for Butter
1 stick salted butter at room temperature
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 and 1/2 tablespoons honey
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
On your stovetop, bring milk to a near boil. Remove from heat when you see small bubbles from and steam come up from the milk. Let the milk reduce to lukewarm.
Now, add the ingredients to your break machine in the exact order listed above. Set the machine on dough cycle and let the bread machine do the rest of the work.
One complete, spray a large bowl with cooking spray and drop the dough inside. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for a hour.
One the bread has risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a flat surface until it’s a 1/2 inch thick in a long roll. Fold the bread in half and gently seal it together.
Cut into 24 squares of even size and place on 2 greased cookie sheets. Cover with a towel and let them rise for another 40 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for 15 minutes. Once, cooked, rub the tops of the rolls with butter.
For the cinnamon butter, mix ingredients with a hand mixer until creamy and smooth. Refrigerate until ready to use.
